My name is Karina Tran, currently a freshman at University of California, Irvine, majoring in biological sciences. Although my major is quite different from that of the humanities, I am glad that I have the opportunity to explore the arts and make connections between the material we get exposed to in the course and the experiences that are related to me “in the real world”. It’s always good, in my opinion, to have a balance between the arts & sciences – such as being able to explore creative outlets (in the form of making music playlists, or bullet journaling) while being challenged on the more physical subjects such as understanding things down at the molecular level. A majority of my blog posts will concern the society that we witness today, the problems & discrepancies in the interactions between groups of people in society, and issues that I believe we should discuss as a collective.
